An alpha hydroxy acid solution, lactic acid 10% + HA, provides efficient exfoliation specifically for the skin's texture. Tested and shown to lessen sensitivity and irritation related to acid use, it is bolstered by pure Tasmanian pepperberry extract. For skin types that are dry, this water-based serum works well. Approximately 3.8 is the pH of this formula. A formulator should take into account the pKa while working with acids, and lactic acid has a pKa of 3.8. Acid availability is indicated by pKa. The perfect balance of salt and acidity is achieved when pKa is near pH, which increases the acid's effectiveness and lessens discomfort.
